In 2013, a new Directive, 2013/39/EC, amended the Directives 2000/60/EC and 2008/105/EC as regards priority substances in the field of water policy. Newly identified substances were added, including the setting of environmental quality standards (EQS), and EQS of some existing substances were revised.
